NOT JUST FOR ATHLETES

What is it ..?

From running around a field to sitting at a desk for hours without moving, we all overuse certain muscles compared to others and this causes an imbalance. If left untreated, this could lead to further problems and eventually become chronic.

Sports massage, if done skillfully, is  the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension. By manipulating the muscles by hand, the balance of the musculo-skeletal system can be restored.

What happens during..?

The hand is used to knead the deep muscles in order to mobile fluids, stretch muscle fibres and inducing relaxation.

The massage can feel uncomfortable at first, but your body will respond as your muscles become less stiff and your flexibility increases.

What happens after..?

Your muscles have just been under a great deal of stress and can feel uncomfortable for up to 48 hours so you should relax them for a while. The following tips will help you get the most from your massage:

1. Try not to do any strenuous exercise for a couple of days while your body heals itself.

2. As caffeine is a stimulant, try to avoid tea or coffee for a few days and drink water or herbal tea. This will help flush away the toxins.

3. Avoid alchohol or smoking for at least 24 hours.
